While at my time at Purdue University, I spent my freshman year as a member of the Fashion and Retail Organization. As a member, I attended meeting weekly as well as volunteered for many events. From this, I advanced my leadership in the organization and was appointed the Public Relations Officer for the club. As the PR officer, I manage community outreach on campus through social media and branding and help to develop future club events.
I completed an internship with the Purdue Center for Career Opportunities as the Career Closet Intern during the Fall semester of 2019. From this internship, I was able to strengthen my organizational skills by sorting the donations of the closet, event planning, and advertising by producing events associated with the Career Closet, and my overall work ethic. I was given the task to write a blog post for the Center for Career Opportunites to inform students on business professional and business casual attire between the different seasons. From this project, I was able to apply all the skills that I learned and strengthened over this internship into my writing skills.
This past year, I studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City for the One-Year AAS program. In the Spring, I graduated with an Associates Degree in Fashion Business Management. With this opportunity, I was able to increase my knowledge about garment construction, sales, and product development within the fashion industry.
