I graduated with a PhD from the University of Notre Dame, where my research centered on developing AI-powered computational models for Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (DRS), an optical technique used to analyze turbid materials such as food or biological tissues. By solving complex forward and inverse problems in DRS, my work aimed to make clinical diagnostics faster and more accurate than traditional computational methods. My curiosity about how the world works led me to study physics, then pursue a PhD. Along the way, I recognized the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world impact. For example, back before 2022, while AI was already becoming a revolutionary thing in some research areas and a few tech companies, it's full potential was not explored at all. This realization drove me to explore the intersection of technology and industry. Entering the ESTEEM program of Notre dame and working as an AI Consultant with my capstone sponsor Ascend Learning, helped me translate technical advancements into practical solutions, and now as an entrepreneur. Beyond understanding how nature works, I’m also fascinated by how human world works and how we can make it better. PhD wasn't the end of a journey, nor should it define what you should do in the future. I believe everyone finds their place—and I’ve found mine at the crossroads of AI, entrepreneurship, and impact. Optimism, not cynicism, fuels me. Outside work, I enjoy outdoors running, MMA (mixed martial arts) training, hiking, and watching interesting videos about history, economics or tech. I also love to organize casual gatherings that bring my friends from all over the world together, for example, hotpot dinner, which is the signature food from my hometown, Sichuan.
