Building Southeast Asia’s leading EV motorcycle company for Indonesia and SE Asia

I wear a couple of hats in my multi-dimensional life, having sat across all 3 sides of the table (public servant, venture/angel investor and serial entrepreneur) since 2006. As an operator, I spend all my time these days working as SVP at TVS Motors following on from Ion Mobility (since Nov 2019), and in the past, Wecash (Sep '16 - Oct ‘19) and Silicon Straits (circa Nov '12) in Southeast Asia, in and about the cities of Southeast Asia. I previously venture accelerated GreyOrange in SE Asia and venture built and led Wecash SE Asia in the markets of Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and India. As an investor, I maintain the remaining portfolio in Neoteny Labs (circa Nov '09), a US$5M seed fund I started and raised with Joichi Ito in May '10 which has since returned more-than-capital with significant assets still under management. I used to write angel-sized cheques out of the Silicon Straits balance sheet. My venture capital and angel portfolio include the likes of Viki (acq. by Rakuten), HelloSign (acq. by Dropbox), Formlabs, Animoca Brands, PlayCo, Carro, Parcel Perform and GetGo. As a citizen, I sometimes help out with The Birthday Collective, which produces (amongst other things) the annual The Birthday Book, and try to find ways to give back to Singapore. As an individual, I'm a father of three and try to sneak whatever time I can eke out to indulge in computer/mobile games, photography, travel, write and eat good food.
