
Martina Macpherson, FICRS, PhD (c), is a sustainable finance expert with a long track record in strategy, analysis, reporting, regulations, data and products, across markets and sectors, with a network of 32+ followers. Martina leads the financial markets chapter at VBA. She has held a range of product, policy and content roles, at SIX Group, ODDO BHF AM, Moody's, S&P Global, MSCI and Lloyds Banking Group. Earlier in her career, she worked in product marketing for F&C AM and Deutsche Bank. She is an independent board member at FoSDA (global data alliance), a visiting fellow at Henley Business School and lecturer at University of Zurich. In 2014, she founded a business consulting services firm, which she grew with talent and tech partners into www.xpertecosystem.com in 2025. She has co-created, led and participated in industry and policy working groups shaping finance, data and sustainability decisions convened by ICMA, FinDatEx, and the European Law Institute. Nowadays, she is an EFRAG VSME committee and ESMA consultative working group member, an advisory board member at the ESG Policy Liaison Group (Houses of Parliament) and at global analytics firm, SG Analytics. Martina contributes regularly to working groups defining best practices, standards and regulations, and innovation themes, e.g., by the European Data Management Council, the World Federation of Exchanges and the UN’s Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative and UN Global Compact. Martina co-edited RiskBooks’ ESG in Portfolio Analysis Handbook (2022), Routledge’s Handbook on Biodiversity (2022) and contributed to the AI Book (2020), an agri-finance publication by Burleigh Dodds Publishing (2024) and to the first Research Handbook on Sustainability Reporting by Elgar Publishing (2024). Martina holds a M.A. from University of Frankfurt, an MBA certificate from the LSBF, a certificate from the Investment Association and in NED Board Governance by ICSA in the UK. She is a fellow at the ICRMP and the ICRS, and an alumnus of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes). Martina has been recognized as a Top Voice in ‘Sustainability and Climate Risk’ by The Leading Women To Watchᵀᴹ (Forbes, 2025), as a ‘Sustainability Ambassador’ by the Global Thinkers Forum (2024) and as one of the ‘Top 50 Women in Finance’ (World Finance Forum, 2022). She ranks as a top leader within the Modern Slavery Influencer Index (2018).
