I am a higher education professional whose passion is helping first generation students access higher education and graduate. I am a firm believer that a personal connection makes all the difference for first generation college students. As the President of Monroe College, I have made the success of first gen and international students the number one priority of our institution. I have significant experience with issues surrounding first-generation college outcomes, financial aid, student debt and earnings, especially of low-income students, and cost of attendance policies. I have always believed that outcomes matter, especially graduation rates. I believe in tracking higher ed outcomes by student demographic--pell recipients, race, loan recipient. Lastly, I believe institutions should be held accountable based on their outcomes, not their institutional type.
