For more than 40 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of research, strategy, and storytelling—helping companies understand their audiences, sharpen their brand identities, and develop content that resonates.
Today, I lead Coleman Insights, a firm that specializes in high-quality market research and strategic guidance. While we’ve worked extensively with audio-based media—radio, streaming, podcasting—what we do applies to anyone who wants to grow a brand, captivate an audience, and drive meaningful engagement. My path to this role started in a radio studio during my freshman year at Cornell, where a part-time DJ shift derailed my plans for a legal career and launched a lifelong passion for media and communication. After gaining valuable experience in market research at Arbitron (now Nielsen Audio) and Strategic Radio Research—and earning my MBA at NYU—I moved to North Carolina in 1995 to join Coleman Insights. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside our founder Jon Coleman, a true pioneer in the field, and I’ve served as President since 2008.
I also believe in doing well by doing good. That’s why Coleman Insights participates in the Pledge 1% initiative, committing a portion of our profits, services, and employee time to charitable causes that matter.
When I’m not helping clients grow, I’m probably cycling, playing softball, or chasing a hockey puck (and feeling it the next day). I’ve been married to my amazing wife Sharon since 1990, and we’re proud parents of two grown kids and one very enthusiastic mini Goldendoodle named Murphy.
