I have earned a Master of International Affairs (MIA) degree from Columbia University, School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) to specialize in Technology, Media, and Communications, with a concentration in International Economic Policy. In the Technology specialization, I studied the opportunities, risks, and ethics of emerging technologies, including AI and blockchains. At SIPA, I researched the regulatory landscape of AI algorithmic biases in the U.S., AI solutions to mis/disinformation, and technological solutions for solving social challenges, such as better digital government services and the use of generative AI for climate policy. I have worked in areas of diverse themes regarding emerging technologies: social media, digital advertising, human rights online, e-government, and Internet governance. I also conducted a Web 3.0 fellowship with a non-profit organization that applies blockchain to sustainable agriculture. These experiences provided me with a greater understanding of the broader issues at the intersections of technology, economics, and politics. My B.A. in Global Studies built the foundation of my critical thinking and analytic skills in understanding globalization and the modern digital revolution. Besides the learned global perspectives of political, economic, and cultural development, my identity has also shaped my interest in the intersection of emerging technologies and social justice. Other interested areas: Personal development, public education, and foreign languages. I regularly speak in English as a Second Language (ESL) classrooms to share my journey as an immigrant with students of diverse nationalities and backgrounds. Being naturally passionate about language, I’m fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. I also obtained intermediate levels in French and German at university.
