With a Master's in Planning from Dalhousie University and a certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from the University of the Fraser Valley, Daniel knows the importance of displaying and analysing data spatially for successful planning. With Planning and GIS experience in Western Kenya, Northern Alberta, Coastal Tanzania, British Columbia, and the Maritimes, Daniel has mapped and analysed information for the benefit of various government, private sector, academic and not-for-profit projects. In Halifax, Daniel has taught Introductory Geography at Dalhouise University and worked as a consultant with the Province of Nova Scotia, CBCL Ltd., the Atlantic Climate Adaptation Solutions Association, Upland Urban Planning and Design Studio, Urban Perspectives Landscape Architecture & Urban Planning and TEAL Architects on topics related to spatial data management, park master plans, subdivision development, active transportation, coastal climate change adaptation, social vulnerability and open space planning. He has also done a number of contracts with CE Consulting on affordable housing in the communities of Abbotsford, Peachland, and Summerland, in British Columbia. Daniel is currently working as a Senior Planner for the Department of Municipal Affairs in Halifax. Salvatore Delle Palme is a tech startup and crypto veteran, pro poker player, creative entrepreneur, devoted husband, and father of three. Mission To synthesize analytical rigor and artistic creativity in uniquely powerful ways to challenge convention and build a more inclusive, tech-driven future that empowers all individuals. Early Careers Sal defied expectations and questioned the established order even in his youth. At 14, he left baseball to sell ice cream from a bike cooler and flowers door-to-door. After years of performing music on the street, direct sales, call centres, music retail, and dealing blackjack on a night shift, he discovered a talent and passion for poker that set him on a new course. At 22, with an $11k life savings, he turned his hobby into a decade-long pro career, honing his skills across North America and rising to high-stakes games in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Crypto Pioneer Sal became an early adopter of Bitcoin in 2012, seeing it as both a revolutionary innovation and a way to fill gaps in his finance and tech knowledge. In 2013, he became one of Canada’s first Bitcoin traders for Xagau in Toronto. Later that year, he retired from poker to join Kraken, a small seed-stage startup in San Francisco, where he managed social media and customer support, helped weather a brutal crypto winter, and scaled the team from a dozen to about 50 employees. Kraken has since become one of crypto’s biggest brands, with $1.5B in revenue in 2024. In 2018, after a brief hiatus, Sal founded Hamilton Blockchain, Hamilton’s first blockchain meetup, and completed an ultramarathon run. In 2019, he shifted his focus to investing and creative projects, eventually founding Artfunder in 2020 to support indie artists in the emerging creator economy. In January 2025, he launched SUPERCYCLE, a platform delivering essential news briefs on trends in crypto and decentralized AI. Philosophy Driven to use tech to defang corrupt power structures, Sal champions free markets, individual freedoms, and limited government while embracing a neoclassical liberal political philosophy that demands policies explicitly and continually raise the standard of living for the poorest and most marginalized. Crypto reduces corruption by limiting bureaucratic control over the financial system. By empowering people and communities instead of centralized power, it paves the way for a fairer, more efficient and peaceful future. Sal believes crypto forms the foundation of a more prosperous world, one marked by less violence and greater opportunity and prosperity for all.
