Dr. AlFarra is a Hopkins-trained interventional spine/pain specialist at Mount Sinai NYC and an assistant professor at Icahn School of Medicine. He completed his interventional pain fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he previously served as chief resident. Dr. AlFarra is passionately dedicated to optimizing functional outcomes by combining a holistic approach with the latest advancements.
Dr. AlFarra offers a full panel of evidence-based solutions for patients with cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral spine related pain. He also has expertise in treating a variety of other conditions including CRPS, phantom limb pain, peripheral joint arthritis of the shoulders, hips, and knees, and the entire spectrum of painful peripheral neuropathies such as painful diabetic neuropathy through the use of neuromodulation.
Dr. AlFarra firmly believes in employing the most conservative treatment options first. Beyond conservative measures, he offers a wide range of interventions spanning from injections and ablations to minimally invasive procedures including spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, basivertebral nerve ablation (Intracept procedure), sacroiliac joint fusion, endoscopic rhizotomy, minimally invasive discectomy, vertebral augmentation, posterolateral lumbar fusion, and minimally invasive lumbar decompression (MILD).
Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. AlFarra remains actively involved in advocating for his patients through research and education. He serves as a co-director of media and public relations for AAPM and as a co-director of the ASPN Networking and Mentorship subcommittee, where he proudly promotes the advancement of his field and colleagues. Dr. AlFarra also serves as an advisory board member for Mynd Immersive - a company he helped launch to provide virtual reality solutions for seniors with cognitive decline.
