In 2008, Tyson pursued his lifelong passion for low carbon transportation by setting the Guinness World Record for “Longest Journey by Car Using Alternative Fuel.” In partnership with the Sierra Club, the campaign educated high school students across North America about sustainability. The tour hit nearly every state, province, and territory, driving further than anyone without using a gas station, clocking in at 48,535 km. Fifteen years later, that record has yet to be beaten. For nearly 20 years Tyson has worked in sales, marketing and business development, with a focus on displacing fossil fuels from commercial fleets. Today, Tyson works for FortisBC as their Business Development Manager in Low Carbon Transportation & Renewable Gas Supply. Tyson continues to write (and brag) about his intelligent wife and two vibrant little girls with whom he is privileged to live, work, and play on the unceded ancestral territories of the Coast Salish peoples.
