Architect of Scalable, Mission-Driven Businesses | Co-Founder, Nonprofit Leadership Lab & Abstract Edge | Now Advising Founders Who Think in Systems
I build things that scale — systems, platforms, movements, businesses. As co-founder of both the Nonprofit Leadership Lab and Abstract Edge, I’ve spent more than 25 years helping mission-driven ventures scale through a mix of strategic insight, creative problem-solving, deep pattern recognition, business insight and innovation, and the technical fluency to design what actually works — not just in theory, but in execution. Over the last decade, I helped lead the Nonprofit Leadership Lab from a bold idea into a thriving membership community. We’ve now served nearly 25,000 nonprofit leaders around the world, with more than 6,000 currently active members. I designed the marketing and growth strategy, architected the platform, and led the launches that put us on the map — then engineered the shift to evergreen scale. I’m currently the Lab’s CMO, transitioning into a strategic advisor role as I open space to pursue new opportunities. I also co-founded Abstract Edge, a digital innovation studio that’s helped organizations launch platforms, grow communities, and drive campaigns — from global brands like Disney, Marriott, and Clairol, to internet startups, to mission-driven nonprofits like the Innocence Project and Save the Music. One of our earliest projects was building the online infrastructure for the Million Mom March, a national gun control movement that brought hundreds of thousands of people to Washington, D.C. That experience showed me what’s possible when technology, strategy, and purpose are aligned — and how the internet could do more than inform. It could mobilize. These days, I advise purpose-driven founders through Evergreen Edge — and increasingly through more direct conversations — with a focus on building businesses that scale with clarity, structure, and integrity. Outside of work, I’ve been married for over 22 years, have two amazing kids, and live with two very different dogs — one sweet and brilliant, the other loud and ridiculous. I’m a classically trained pianist and a lifelong learner with an almost obsessive drive to understand how things work — whether it’s a marketing funnel, a Chopin etude, or the nature of time. I read widely — especially history, psychology, physics, and philosophy — and I ask a lot of questions. These days, I’m also working on something playful and unexpected with my wife that’s already coming to life — and just might turn into our next business.
