I lead Stears, a financial data company on a mission to build the infrastructure global investors need to confidently operate in African markets. Despite spending on platforms like CapIQ, PitchBook, and Preqin, African investors still struggle with poor-quality, fragmented data when assessing African opportunities. That is because these platforms were built for developed markets—and they have not made meaningful investments in African data. Stears exists to close that gap. We are creating a modern, Africa-focused alternative: a single source of truth for company, industry, transaction, and macroeconomic data—designed from day one to serve fund managers, institutional investors, corporates, and advisors active across the continent. Before co-founding Stears, I worked as a structured finance lawyer at Linklaters, then joined BP’s Mergers & Acquisitions team. I studied law at the London School of Economics, before returning to Nigeria to help solve the data problem holding back private capital in Africa. I believe that if Africa is to attract capital at scale, its information infrastructure must be built by those who understand its complexity. That is what we are building at Stears.
