Mike is a growth-focused executive with extensive experience leading high-performing teams, scaling companies, and driving strategic outcomes, including acquisitions by Microsoft and eBay. He has served as CEO across venture-backed businesses and, earlier in his career, led global product teams at top technology companies. As founder and Managing Director of multiple Madrona venture studio funds, Mike established the investment thesis with a focus on enterprise and consumer AI applications. He raised approximately $40M across funds, created and invested in more than 30 startups, and supported those companies in securing over $270M in funding and reaching a combined valuation exceeding $700M. Earlier in his career, Mike was a founding member of Farecast (acquired by Microsoft) and Decide.com (acquired by eBay), where he built pioneering AI-powered consumer products from the ground up. Decide evolved into eBay's Seller Hub, unifying disparate seller tools into a single, data-driven platform used by 25 million sellers worldwide. Farecast was integrated into the launch of Bing, powering hundreds of millions of search queries and generating tens of millions of travel searches. These experiences gave him a comprehensive, end-to-end perspective on scaling products, building high-performing teams, and creating enterprise value through strategic exits. Mike is currently a Venture Partner at Madrona, a board member of Otto the Agent, Foundations, and fullouT21, and a member of the LPAC at Pack VC. He holds degrees from the University of Washington and Harvard Business School and serves on the board of the Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Washington.
