Jigsaw puzzles are my superpower. I love looking at the pieces and seeing the path to completion. My current record is completing 2,000 pieces in two days. 🧩 Curriculum writing is a puzzle. Making education accessible to all learners is the “picture on the puzzle box.” The innovative, inclusive, and impactful educational resources that I create are the puzzle pieces that bring it all together. After 10+ years in ELA education, I have had to examine the puzzle of curriculum development from all angles, creating curriculum materials and devising solutions often with limited resources. I have also had the challenge of working with a highly diverse student population in a fast-paced environment. Needless to say, I have had to become highly flexible and excellent at time management! 📚 As an educator, I have a proven track record of writing 20+ curriculum units, scopes and sequences, and assessments. I crafted compelling, challenging, and culturally relevant learning materials and accomplished a remarkable 95% pass rate on AP exams and notable advancements in student reading proficiency. 💪 As a leader, I conducted curriculum design initiatives, research, and development for the ELA department. I was the Team Leader for the Freshman Academy team for five years with marked success, and mentored and guided four practicum students, enabling their growth as effective educators. As Assistant Camp Director, I worked with staff, instructors, and other stakeholders, implementing innovative STEM modules and assisting in facilitating a 200% increase in camp enrollment. 🏅 I excel at problem-solving (remember the puzzles?), verbal and written communication, and creating meaningful relationships. I am passionate about thinking outside the box, whether I am finding new, engaging texts for use in curriculum materials or devising, researching, or implementing new pedagogical strategies to ensure learner success.
