Director of Marketing & Customer Experience at Wilson Air Center | MBA Candidate at SMU Cox School of Business
Margie Katsma is a graduate of Southern Methodist University, with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Cox School of Business. She worked as a Resident Assistant for the Resident Life and Student Housing department at SMU in Dallas, Texas for three years. Margie was a Hilltop Scholar, in the Honors Program, and graduated a semester early in December 2016. Margie has 2 years of previous experience working in the service industry as well as a strong background in HR, community service, volunteering, and working with nonprofits. She pursued her education while staying busy in several different school organizations and leadership positions such as coordinating volunteers for SMU's annual Reading for a Reason event and acting as the Community Service Chairperson for Chi Omega. Margie also worked for ServiceMaster in their Corporate Terminix HR department during the summer of 2015. Projects at ServiceMaster included: •Designed a yearlong Mentor program for Corporate headquarters •Assisted in crafting an outside study for turnover rates in the field •Collected information used in completing midyear talent reviews for all employees In the summer of 2016, Margie began working for Wilson Air Center in Memphis, TN. Her projects included: •Streamlining and improving the on-boarding system •Assisting in the benchmarking process •Designing "HR Best Practices" book •Creating job descriptions and company policies Margie continued to work part time for Wilson Air Center while finishing her last semester at SMU. Upon graduating, Margie began working with Wilson Air full time as a Marketing Specialist, as well as assisting with roles such as HR, Advertising, and Special Projects. Margie's current role is Director of Marketing and Customer Experience and she handles such projects as: •Oversee operations of CSRs for a cohesive and effective workflow across all locations •Management of all marketing campaigns, press releases, social media, research, and industry events •Establish and maintain communication channels with customers to improve overall experience •Manage vendors and maintain positive relationships while ensuring quality and cost effectiveness •Coordinate the RFP process while evaluating potential business ventures •Conduct ongoing market research on retail pricing, contract pricing, and compensation
