I am the President of MCG, which is part of the Hearst Health Network. I have been in this role since 2007, when I was also a Consulting Actuary at Milliman in Denver. The company left Milliman to join Hearst in 2012, and since then I have not maintained my qualifications as an actuary. I grew up in Fargo as a math nerd, went to Carleton College, and then got my first actuarial job at UNUM in Portland, Maine (and finished my exams while working there). I joined Milliman in 1987 (the last time I interviewed for a job!) in Philadelphia. I moved to Denver to start a new health practice within Milliman, became an Equity Principal, which allowed me to sponsor a range of other practices, including practices in Brazil and Mexico, the Care Guidelines, and MARA (Milliman's risk adjustor). At Hearst, I continue to learn how to lead an organization, and transfer from consulting skills to product company skills. We are up to 400+ employees, and I love to work with people who are growing.
