Jared Schiffman is a creative technologist and serial entrepreneur who has worked at the intersection of design, computer science and education for over two decades. His work is infused by the belief that creativity is as essential to engineering as it is to the arts, and that the freedom to invent—and reinvent—is fundamental to the success of every organization. Jared is currently a Fellow at Teaching Lab Studio, where he explores how AI can transform education. His research focuses on leveraging AI to enhance mathematics learning, foster creativity, and build meaningful connections in the classroom. A lifelong student and educator, Jared founded Phenomena, a creator-driven platform for experiential math and science learning in 2021. Phenomena’s pedagogy is rooted in the power of play and hands-on experience to help students understand complex STEM concepts. In 2012, Jared founded Perch Interactive, a retail tech startup whose proprietary technology unites physical products with the digital world to engage customers and drive product sales. Clients include Kate Spade, Estée Lauder, Johnson & Johnson, and Sephora. In 2005, Jared co-founded Potion, an interactive design and technology firm twice-named a finalist for the National Design Award in the Interaction Design category and designated one of Fast Company's "Top 10 Most Innovative Design Companies.” Major projects are on display at the Smithsonian, the Museum of Science & Industry, the National Holocaust Museum and Bell Labs, among others.  Jared has taught courses at Parsons (The New School), New York University, and High Tech High, a charter school in San Diego funded by the Gates Foundation. He received a Masters degree in Media Arts & Science from the MIT Media Lab, where he studied under Prof John Maeda in the Aesthetics & Computation Group, and a Bachelors in Computer Science & Engineering from MIT.
