Analytics Engineering at Lightdash
I'm currently working at Lightdash as an Analytics Engineering Advocate. My focus is on making that team amazing so we can contribute as much as possible to the growth of Lightdash as a great product and amazing place to work. From 2016 and 2020 I founded and scaled an analytics consultancy through customer referrals and partnerships with Looker, Mode, Segment, dbt, Shopify, and more. My company was acquired by McGaw.io and I joined as VP Analytics to build out the agency's BI and data warehouse offering. As the first employee at Segment in 2013, I hired and managed 20+ people, mostly engineers. I also worked with the founders on key product and marketing initiatives, including: Segment Spec design and rollout, Segment Warehouse schema design and rollout, new pricing model, and v2 and v3 of Analytics Academy, all of which are still in use at Segment to this day. Between 2020 and 2024 I spent time at two early stage startups (PopSQL and Routable). At both companies I hired and mentored the customer-facing teams and led projects to roll out modern data stacks: Snowflake/Redshift, dbt, Airbyte/Fivetran, Looker. We successfully used those data stacks in projects like implementing OKRs at Routable, restructuring PopSQL's pricing model to swing net dollar retention from negative to positive, and a customer cluster analysis that informed a range of customer engagement improvements across marketing, sales, and customer success. My technical skills include SQL, dbt, various BI platforms, and managing data warehouses including Snowflake and BigQuery. I excel in interpreting data to inform strategic decisions and I have a proven track record in mentoring and leading diverse teams of data professionals, engineers, and customer-facing roles.
