I'm a Linux engineer with experience in managing private cloud infrastructure. At Adform, I've maintained approximately 300 physical servers and was responsible for virtualization (OpenStack & HKVMs ( separately from OpenStack)) and storage as a service (Ceph). The systems varied between CentOS 7, CentOS 8, and Rocky Linux 9, with applications running in Docker/Podman containers. At Surfshark, the main focus was to build new platforms and infrastructures—Proxmox and Ceph were used at the time. The OS was Debian, and applications ran in Docker containers. Some things I learned or worked on more than once: Task automation, scripting, and building workflows with CI/CD tools. For server preparation, I'm well-acquainted with Ansible and have experience with writing playbooks, roles, tasks, handlers, and templates. I also worked with Puppet to a moderate extent. For other automation tasks, such as cleanup and housekeeping scripts or server-draining workflows, I am familiar with using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab. Monitoring- I'm comfortable writing queries for Prometheus/Thanos, creating alerts for Alertmanager, and designing dashboards in Grafana. I am also currently familiarizing myself with VictoriaMetrics and Nagios. Infrastructure as Code (IaC)- I got familiar with Terraform by using OpenStack provider. Databases- from troubleshooting to updating tools versions, modifying entries & databases. MariaDB/MySQL, PostgreSQL. Messaging brokers- RabbitMQ; got to know it quite well when I needed to migrate cluster nodes Load Balancing- HAProxy; endpoint creations, troubleshooting it and other applications via it. Resource planning and capacity managment- quite a lot of times needed to determine how many servers can be decommissioned, replaced with lifecycle projects, forecasting future hardware needs. Projects Worth Mentioning: • Migrating Ceph to Rocky Linux 9 and Puppet (implementing generic configurations with Puppet). • Upgrading OpenStack, moving the platform from legacy versions (starting from Mitaka and upgrading through 7 versions). • Converting OpenStack to use the Kolla-Ansible project, effectively containerizing the infrastructure and improving deployment consistency and scalability. • Migrating from ScaleIO to Ceph. • Building an OpenStack tier for testing (Sandcloud).
