Software Architect
US Permanent Resident I have lead experience from 8 projects, all of which were successful projects. I mentor junior developers on the practical execution of software design and development, reducing the risk of last minute mistakes. I have designed 10 database schemas (864 tables). I was responsible for the creation of numerous clear, precise specifications using a unique format. These were crucial to project success because developers knew what to develop, and testers knew what to test. At General Electric, I provided technical leadership and OO mentoring to the development team. The generic control class library I created formed the foundation for all the software based control systems on the GE AC6000 locomotive. The locomotive starts and stops using my software. At ARINC, I provided technical leadership for a 2,000 requirement custom software project for Trane. I designed a generic application framework for the project, which was completed on time and under budget. I was the architect of an enterprise time, billing and accounting system for law firms. The system consists of 55 windows applications, specified by 5872 requirements. The system was completed in 1.5 years for a cost of $600k. It has been used by thousands of lawyers. A project of this size normally costs millions of dollars, and take years to complete. Many ivory tower architects are well versed in every facet of technology but have never actually successfully engineered a system. To deliver a successful software solution, an architect needs: Healthy respect for software risk Significant familiarity with technology options Business analysis skills Engineering judgment Database schema design Software construction skills An understanding that QA is essential Team building skills and teamwork instincts Integrity and trust I am very well rounded. I have all of these things. At my core, I’m an engineering architect, not a mere technologist.
