Growing up in a family of educators has played an important role in who I am and what I do. My access to books rather than a TV opened the door to adventure and imagination, and I felt like a kid in a candy store within the aisles of the used bookstores I was often taken to. What I sometimes thought were boring family obligations like going to plays, museums, and summer road trips around the country, were in fact a continual education by my parents to expand our understanding of the world and the diversity of its people and places. My appreciation for culture and theatre expanded after meeting my wife, Robin my freshman year in college. She was a dance major and many of our dates took place at musical and dance performances. We’ve carried our shared passion for the arts into our family by educating our children through similar experiences. Though I didn’t become an educator like my parents, my passion for learning, exploration, and teaching are integrated into my life and career. Over the last decade, I have cultivated relationships with dynamic business owners and executives while taking a consultative approach to the management of their wealth — learning about the businesses they have founded, assessing what is most important to them personally, and applying that to thoughtful wealth planning and investment advice. I find fulfillment in educating business owners around creative tax strategies, charitable giving, and exit planning. Working with clients who are growing their business allows me to add value beyond the management of their portfolios; much of which is tied to personal relationships and bringing like-minded people together in a meaningful way. Most rewarding of all is the incredible diversity of individuals within my network —business owners, entrepreneurs, and professional partners who share similar family-based values and the drive for continuous learning, exploration, and travel.
