I’ve been building organizations my whole life. As a researcher, I study how entrepreneurs handle this same challenge – moving from a messy idea to a thriving, complex organization. Specifically, my research explores how entrepreneurs discover and shape new opportunities, design innovative business models, and navigate the uncertainty and interdependence that define nascent ecosystems and disrupted markets. I do so in settings as diverse as solar energy, electric vehicles, digital health, and advertising – contexts where new technologies collide with shifting ecosystems to create both extraordinary challenges and possibilities. I’ve published in leading management journals and enjoy collaborating with entrepreneurs, executives, and policymakers. At Gies, I teach in the iMBA program, where I work with students from around the world to explore the future of online education. More information on my personal website, at http://douglashannah.com.
