Darren has served as Group CISO at four major organizations: Standard Chartered Bank, S&P Global, Qantas Airways, and IBM. Across these roles, he’s led enterprise-wide cybersecurity transformations while building alignment between technical teams and executive leadership. Currently Chair of the Cyber Leadership Institute, Darren teaches cybersecurity strategy, governance, and digital risk management. His approach focuses on translating complex security challenges into actionable business decisions. His work has earned recognition from industry peers, including placement among the Top 100 CISOs worldwide (2017, 2022), Top 100 IT Security Influencer (2018), SANS Innovator of the Year, and Cyber OSPAs Outstanding Cyber Security Professional (2022). He received CSO30 honors three consecutive years, culminating in the Inaugural Leadership Award in 2023. Darren’s technical experience spans threat-led assurance programs and red team operations. Beyond cybersecurity, he advocates for personal resilience through fitness and meditation practices, viewing these as foundational to effective leadership under pressure.
