After receiving my Bachelors of Science in Information Technology at Sacred Heart University, I was hired at CA Technologies. I worked there for three years. I was also working part-time for Sorenson Communications, a provider of telecommunications for the deaf and hard of hearing. These positions gave me a vast array of experience in both the corporate world and private enterprise. However, I had been contemplating going back for a masters degree. So I applied to various technical design colleges. The economy was faltering when I received acceptance to Parson’s, The New School for Design in Manhattan, New York. I took a leap of faith, resigned from CA Technologies and moved to Manhattan to focus on a Master's in Fine Arts. I gained an array of skills for physical computing, interaction design, user interface design, mobile application interface design, and web design. Upon graduation, I found that the job market proved to be tougher than anticipated. Willing to relocate anywhere, I applied all over the country. In the meantime, I did freelance web design/developing and IT work for residences and local businesses. In January 2014 I was offered a position at Purple Communications in California. This is also a company that provides telecommunications for the deaf and hard of hearing. Seeing it as an opportunity, I took another leap of faith and moved from the East coast to the West coast. The position offered me the perspective of working in customer service. That experience was good but the position was not what I wanted to be doing long term. I began actively looking for a job more suitable for my skills. Finally, in January 2016, I began working for the State of California as an Office Technician in the California Victim Compensation Board (CalVCB). I am thoroughly enjoying California and all it has to offer and I am enthusiastic about my career advancing.
