Based in Washington, D.C., I am a Colorado attorney and certified privacy professional (CIPM, CIPP/US) with a background in tech policy, data protection, AI governance, and administrative law. I strive to bring an evidence-informed approach to my research and writing, which I believe is the best way to find common ground. At IAPP, I work to serve as a policy neutral voice of the privacy profession in D.C. Through this role, I look for opportunities to connect people and ideas as we endeavor, collectively, to build right-sized solutions for equitable data governance. I am passionate about privacy as the fundamental consumer protection issue of our day. Privacy, done right, is about much more than compliance. If we are to spread data protection norms and earn consumer trust, we must be prepared to use every available tool at our disposal. This includes professionalizing the practice of privacy, building uniformity around standards for privacy governance, and encouraging mechanisms that increase accountability and transparency. I'm also a technology nerd and love any excuse to figure out how the newest privacy-invasive technology works.
