My major areas of interest are the implementation and evaluation of interventions to decrease gender-based violence, prevent HIV, improve mental health, and enhance child and maternal health both globally and within the U.S. All my research is applied and usually in conjunction with NGO partners. I am particularly interested in multidisciplinary work that brings together expertise from varying fields and involves multiple organizations both inside and outside of academia. I am also passionate about education, and teach several undergraduate and graduate-level courses, including "Global Child Health", "Gender and Intersectionality in Global Health", and "Global Medical Issues Affecting Women". I also direct the Scholarly Concentrations component of the Stanford School of Medicine Pediatric Residency Program. One of my favorite aspects of my job is being able to act as a research mentor to post-docs, residents, medical students, and undergraduates. I have authored 40+ publications for peer-reviewed scientific journals, as well as a handful of book chapters, reports, and blogs. I have worked in the U.S. (NY and CA) as well as in Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Peru, Mexico, and Albania.
