Over the course of my career I've had the fortune to work in equal parts as a writer and an editor. My work has focused strongly on branding, style, and the establishment of a unique organizational voice in a variety of industries, from news media and finance to technology, education, the arts, and entertainment. As a copy editor and proofreader, quality assurance is my raison d'être. I don't simply improve text; I shepherd a creative project through many phases, ensuring excellence from conception to the point where it's in front of the reader's eyes. I've served clients in both the print realm (Yoga Journal, California College of the Arts) and the online world (AJ+, CNET/CBS Interactive, etc.). As a writer, I frame my voice to fit the medium: from marketing brochures and sales emails to interactive online menus (including the portal that CREDO Mobile uses to activate all of its mobile phones), online course material (see my portfolio documents here on LinkedIn), and a variety of writing on music and other subjects for Pitchfork, among others. I've also enjoyed crafting video game writing, including dialogue spoken by voice actors for role-playing games like Suikoden Tactics, as well as area descriptions for the sci-fi thriller Stasis. I'm passionate about progressive advocacy and nonprofit work, and intrigued by the role that technology plays in our lives. I'm also fascinated with board games and video games – both of which compel, as Sid Meier puts it so well, "a series of interesting decisions." And as an avid media consumer, I've developed a deep knowledge base related to the history of music, film, literature, interactive education, and, well, history itself. But it's not all about me – I'm also a natural team player and love to collaborate.
