Mr. Johanson has over 20 years of consulting experience with the last 12 years of experience focused on assisting clients and counsel regarding intellectual property (“IP”) matters in a wide range of industries. Mr. Johanson has been a leader on over 50 IP litigation matters involving patents, trademarks, trade dress, and trade secrets in industries ranging from consumer electronics, high tech manufacturing, bio-tech and medical devices, AR/VR, software and hardware, automotive, textiles, energy, aerospace, and even food and beverages for many different life-stage companies from start-ups to market leaders. Mr. Johanson not only assists clients who have IP needs within litigation, but Mr. Johanson also specializes in IP valuation for purposes of restructuring, IP asset sales, IP asset collateralization, IP management, and, in the case of start-ups, capital raises. Mr. Johanson regularly prepares detailed financial models for the aforementioned purposes and such analyses include revenue capture, Total Available Market (“TAM”) calculations, lost profit calculations, reasonable royalty cash flows, Mor-Flo analyses, unjust enrichment calculations, market share/ industry analyses, competitive position analyses, Georgia-Pacific Factor evaluations, and capacity assessments. These analyses are based on rigorous review of financial statements, intensive public financial and royalty database research, and investigation of internal accounting and marketing documents. Mr. Johanson manages, supervises, and is responsible for the preparation of client deliverables including expert reports, deposition materials, trial demonstratives, valuation reports (for several purposes including debt and equity financing), presentations to the C-Suite, the BOD, investors, and other stakeholders. Prior to Mr. Johanson's IP experience Mr. Johanson worked on various forensic accounting, commercial damages, and regulatory/supervisory matters in litigation. These have included, due diligence reviews, mortgage fraud matters, accounting fraud analysis, process and procedure investigation and analysis, carrier profit sharing analysis, consulting on risk based capital matters, damage and restitution analysis of a failed insurance carrier, financial and conduct examinations of insurance companies, consulting to the operation of an insolvent insurance carrier in liquidation, lost profit modeling, and forensic accounting in the support of bankruptcy litigation. All of these projects have involved financial statement analysis, research, and modeling.
