I began my career 20+ years ago as a backend engineer. After spending 10 years as an IC developing software, managing infrastructure, databases, configuring cloud and virtual environments, and leading projects, I took a leap of faith and jumped onto the management path. From managing a team of engineers, I eventually moved on to managing multiple teams. I currently work as a Senior Engineering Manager at GitLab, leading an org of 30 that builds GitLab CI. As a leader, I have mentored and coached EMs and ICs across different disciplines and experience levels. I strive to find opportunities aligning with their interests, so that they are continuously growing. I also push for our R&D teams to set goals, quantify success and then review their progress, ensuring that we are making data-driven decisions. I work with them to continuously iterate on improvements in team efficiency and delivery.
