I am the founder and Director of Collective Action - a for-purpose social impact consultancy. Collective Action is a women-led small business that designs and evaluates initiatives that address inequality and social injustice. Over the last nine years, I have led a small team to deliver a range of projects in Australia and across the globe, primarily in the fields of primary violence prevention, gender equality and social inclusion, HIV prevention, health, and LGBTIQA+ community inclusion and wellbeing. We have delivered projects for governments, community-based organisations, peak bodies, international development organisations, and global institutions. We work with organisations that want to change systems and structures that limit people’s choice and control over their lives, including gender inequality, discrimination and stigma, violence, poverty, health inequity, racism, and ableism. We believe that meaningful social change can only be achieved through work that respects self-determination, recognises lived experience, and empowers the communities that it serves. While we work across diverse fields, our work has a central theme: supporting the involvement, leadership, and influence of people and communities who experience structural discrimination, marginalisation, and social injustice in the development of policies, programs, and services that impact their lives. We do this through co-designing programs and services with service users, developing resources to support locally led initiatives, undertaking consultations and research to elevate the voices of people with lived experience, and using participatory approaches to centre the voices of people who are impacted by the projects we work on.
