Software Engineer | Lawyer

I am a software engineer driven by applying pragmatic technical solutions to business problems. I have used multiple languages including JavaScript, Python, PHP, and Ruby to build backend services for hundreds of thousands of happy customers. In a previous life, I practiced law for 10 years, managing technical projects at a marketing agency and leading the digital transformation of my legal department, including writing contract automation software. In addition to my employment experience, I have led cross-functional teams to thousands of dollars in prizes at hackathons in Vancouver, San Francisco and New York. Most recently, I’ve been exploring privacy-by-design and building a project in Elixir in order to stretch my capabilities with functional programming and the BEAM virtual machine. Outside of software, I am a military musician (trumpet) in a leadership position where I mentor and train new soldiers.
