"...for the benefit and protection of the people of North Carolina." | The North Carolina Medical Board is the public agency that licenses and regulates physicians, physician assistants and certain other medical professionals and also investigates allegations of misconduct and, where appropriate, takes remedial or disciplinary action. The Board consists of 13 members appointed by the Governor who meet every other month during the odd numbered months and hold disciplinary hearings during the even-numbered months, as needed. The Board currently licenses more than 50,000 physicians and physician assistants.
