Look close, think far. | Free to the public, the Ackland Art Museum at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is home to North Carolina’s premier collections of Asian art and works on paper (drawings, prints, and photographs) as well as significant collections of European masterworks, twentieth-century and contemporary art, African art, and North Carolina Pottery – in total, over 17,000 works of art representing over 4,500 years of human creativity. The Ackland’s new initiatives in collecting and exhibiting contemporary and American art are enriching our collection and its interpretation. As an academic unit of UNC-Chapel Hill, the Ackland serves as a center for research, scholarship, and creativity and is a resource for a diverse community of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students as they become the next generation of leaders.
