I'm one of the country's most recognized financial journalists. I do this with instructional and inspirational content on this site, my YouTube channel, personal coaching services (contact me for more info), online courses (in development), books, and speaking. MY STORY I've been a digital nomad since 2006. I traveled full-time as The Professional Hobo in a financially sustainable manner for 12+ years. While I now have a home base in my home town of Toronto, I continue to travel abroad as and when I want - which is most of the time! As a freelance writer and digital content publisher, I make a living with an internet connection anywhere in the world. I am an expert in remote work, long-term travel, personal finance, content creation, and much more. As a former Certified Financial Planner with experience running my own practice, I write on the topic of personal finance with authority and style. And as a "Professional Hobo", I write about the finance of travel (including how to travel full-time in a financially sustainable way) as somebody with experience, practicing what I preach, and searching out the greatest adventures and stories to share. I am regularly asked to speak around the world at Travel (and Travel Media) conferences, Finance and Lifestyle events, Rotary clubs, and various groups. Currently my focus is on developing my speaking repertoire, and I have a variety of remote work, travel, and lifestyle design related topics I can keynote on. I appear on radio and television programs around the world, sharing my experiences, some of which have been quite dramatic. Some (very random) examples of my adventures and misadventures include: - I accidentally started an International NGO in Thailand. - A kangaroo fell in love with me in Australia and followed me around everywhere I went for 4 months. - I am considered a "pioneer" in the travel blogging industry - which wasn't even an industry when I started. - I apprenticed with a shaman in Peru for 2 years and worked as a shaman's assistant in Ecuador for 6 months. - I have traveled through and lived in over 70 countries across 5 continents. As a published author, I also freelance and my work can be seen across the print and web, in publications such as NerdWallet, Lonely Planet, Budget Travel, GOBanking Rates, Wise Bread, Transitions Abroad, and many many more. And whenever I get the chance, I relish opportunities to perform in musical theatre, as my original and life-long passion is for acting, singing, and dancing.
