I completed a PhD in the field of computer networks and distributed systems, and after that have worked in High Performance Computing (HPC) and more recently Data and AI. I was a member of the Parallel Programming Lab at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) for 4+ years, where I was a Research Scientist. I am the author of Charm4py (github.com/UIUC-PPL/charm4py), a parallel programming system and runtime for Python -built on top of a C++ framework- that scales to clusters of thousands of nodes. Charm4py has 290 stars on GitHub as of Sep 2024. I joined Bodo.ai in 2019 as Director of Engineering to develop a large-scale data analytics platform and C++ distributed query engine that achieved world-class performance, bridging the simplicity of Python with the performance and scalability of HPC. In 2022 I joined Modular where I worked on several aspects of the modern AI stack (frameworks and compiler, model serving at scale), and more recently contribute to Voltron Data's query engine and enterprise product. Passionate about HPC and computing at scale (particularly in the big data and AI domains), programmer productivity, parallel computing and algorithms, collective communication algorithms, performance and scaling, asynchronous runtime systems, high-performance networks and interconnects, building quality software. IT educated engineer, with passion for embedded and system programming. I have experience in bare metal programming (microcontroller firmware) in both C and modern C++; Linux embedded application programming (Yocto, QML, Qt); Linux device driver development; communication buses; etc. Also have plenty of experience in Java programming, in server back-end and desktop applications. I even have experience in Java device driver development, which is probably not something you come across very often.
