👋Hey! My name's Samantha and I'm a 20 y/o innovator, entrepreneur, content creator, and female advocate passionate about leveraging technology to create lasting change. Previously, I founded/scaled a women in STEM organization to reach 33K+ girls in 89+ countries; represented Team Canada at the International Chemistry Olympiad; helped pioneer the Web3 x impact space; and built numerous projects/ventures in AI, blockchain, chemistry, and materials that won international innovation prizes and granted me features in Forbes, Nikkei, and various 25 Under 25 lists. My interests largely lie in deeptech & greentech VC/startups, and I seek to surround myself with impact-oriented individuals building in this space.
Next fall, I will be on gap from my studies at UPenn M&T, traveling & building in Web3, honing in on my research, working on deeptech startups, and building my brand as a creator (@samantha.ouyang).
⚗My research interests lie at the intersection of materials chemistry & sustainable development, including bio-based/bio-inspired materials, biopolymers, soft/smart materials, waste valorization, and issues at the water-food-energy nexus. With the experience of founding AeroPure at 16, a moonshot company using biowaste-derived polysaccharide aerogels to remove pollutants from water, I hope to spin off my research with the ultimate goal of building a startup combining nature-inspired processes with high-tech computational advances to design a more sustainable future.
⛓ Being in Web3 since 2020, I started out researching cryptography, before teaching myself Solidity and going on to build numerous blockchain projects tackling social issues and winning at hackathons. I worked my first job at 16 as a smart contract developer at a global fintech company and have traveled around the world being sponsored for conferences. I now serve as Head of Internal at Penn Blockchain, spearheading our annual conference & managing partner relations.
My work in tech, social entrepreneurship, and female empowerment has been featured on Forbes, Nikkei, Irish Tech News, The DMZ, Toronto Guardian, Tdot Women, and The Fem Word; and allowed me to speak at Microsoft, IBM, S&P Global, Masason Foundation, Canadian Innovation Week, Canadian Blockchain Association for Women, and on numerous podcasts. I've also been recognized on lists such as DMZ Women of the Year, Future 25 Under 25, and Top 25 Most Inspirational Girls of Web3.
