Founded in 2016 by Brian Carrico & Chris Herndon, The Guild operated a collection of 16 apartment hotels across 7 US markets. Despite the team’s heroic efforts to keep the dream alive, we closed up shop in 2023.

I run The Bygone Hotel. In 2021, my wife & I bought this forgotten roadside motor lodge and transformed it into the Texas Hill Country’s most beloved escape. Prior to buying and renovating The Bygone, I ran two VC-backed startups. In 2011, I co-founded Apartment List. Think Tinder for apartments. Swipe through cute spots, go on tours, fall in love. >$100m raised, independent, fast-growing & profitable. In 2016, I launched an apartment hotel brand, The Guild. Early locations crushed.
