If I were to try to describe myself in one word, it would be "builder". I love building lots of different things: products, teams, strategies, whole businesses; the more parts, and the fewer instructions the better. I've been fortunate to have had great experiences at some truly incredible companies, like Google, Meta/Facebook, Netflix, Snap, and some startups. The journeys I've been a part of have taught me lots, with the following lessons standing out most:
1️⃣ Scientific thinking is imperative for good decisions: make a hypothesis, get the right data, and validate.
2️⃣ In spite of 1, sometimes, you need to take a calculated risk. Science has its bounds, and on occasion (if the pool looks clean enough and deep enough), you need to take a plunge.
3️⃣ "Life is long" and relationships matter. Invest in yourself and in those around you, and foster positivity.
Most importantly:
4️⃣ A business or team needs 1, 2, *and* 3 to flourish. If any of these are missing, a group ends up with no strategy, no innovation, or no people.
With over 20 years of experience in finance, strategy, and cybersecurity, I am a passionate and innovative entrepreneur who strives to create impactful and secure solutions for the digital world. As the CEO and Co-Founder of Cyphlens, the world's encryption platform, I lead a team of talented engineers and designers who share our vision of making the internet safer and more trustworthy. I also serve as a Board Member of Minerals Technologies, a global leader in minerals-based products and services, where I leverage my strategic analysis and analytical skills to help the company grow and diversify its portfolio.
Prior to founding Cyphlens, I co-founded Jiko, the first technology company to buy a Fed Reserve/ OCC-charted bank to deliver a first of its kind spendable Treasury bill. And I'm a former JPMorgan Managing Director and a MicKinsey consultant. I also hold a Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight from Carnegie Mellon University and a certificate in Making Corporate Boards More Effective from Harvard Business School, which enable me to advise and support organizations on best practices and emerging trends in cybersecurity and governance. I have a MBA from the Wharton School and a BS in Finance and Accounting from NYU Stern School.
