Welcome to my profile! Feel free to look around and send me a connection request or a note if you feel so moved.
A little about me. I’m into my third decade in advertising and marketing. Some might think that’s insane, but I wouldn’t choose any other career path (I did want to be a firefighter long ago but that’s a story for another day).
I spent the first half of my career working for several different ad agencies between Texas and Boston. I learned some valuable lessons from those experiences.
First, advertising was (and still is) a blend of art and science, which is what makes it so fun. The use of data and analytics is an important part of the decision-making process but it’s no substitute for creativity.
Second, I really enjoy helping clients solve complex business problems. When working agency side, I helped brands like Volkswagen, Subaru and Mastercard launch new products in crowded categories and improve sales and brand perception.
Third, I learned that relationships matter and treating people with respect goes a long way to building a successful career (and it’s the human thing to do).
I’ve leaned into each of these lessons as I transitioned by career to advertising and technology sales. I’ve never thought of sales as “selling” but more a process of helping your client solve a vexing problem or capitalize on an amazing opportunity. Further, much of my success in sales has come from the strong relationships that I’ve built over the years.
I like to think of my “family tree”. These are folks that I’ve worked with over the years who are now CMO’s, heads of agencies or CEO’s of tech companies that will take a meeting, give me advice or set me straight due to our strong relationship.
Now, I’m running my own consulting company, which has given me the freedom to work with old friends, enjoy a flexible work situation and live where I want to live. Currently, that’s living right on the water outside of Tampa, FL.
I can honestly say that I’m living my best life right now both personally and professionally.
