I’m a believer in nonlinear career paths. From a young age, many of us were taught to specialize in one area, beginning with a college degree to climbing a corporate ladder until you reach the top. This never excited me. Where’s the cross-disciplinary creativity in this path? Where’s the thrill of pushing your limits, taking risks, and starting over?
Over the course of my career I was an HR assistant, event producer, nightlife party photographer, marketer, international backpacker, internet meme wrangler, conference planner, and now recruiter. Today, it’s no longer true that you need to pursue success in one field, which is one of the reasons why I love being a recruiter. It’s fun and inspiring to learn about people’s career journeys and how it’s shaped who they are today.
As an Associate Partner at SwingSearch, I talk to the most interesting people in tech. I have a passion for all things consumer, fashion and entertainment, plus recruiting experience in B2B, marketplaces and health-tech, just to name a few.
Some of my favorite books are: Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World, A Little Life, Man's Search for Meaning, and All the Light We Cannot See.
