I have extensive experience in both and would make a valuable asset to any organization. Most recently, I've connected with my passion and roots of hands-on development as an individual contributor and senior developer on multiple remote teams. I’ve been focused on JavaScript (node.js, react, redux), ruby and ruby on rails (including production experience with rails 6), and advanced database usage with Postgres (10 and upgraded to 11). I have a strong ability to communicate and have learned to overcome the unique challenges that come with working remotely. My technical expertise has always been in application integration; getting the big gnarly systems to talk to each other and play nice. Beginning in my early days with ThoughtWorks working on big JEE systems, moving onto connecting to the FFM (Federally Facilitated Marketplace -- healthcare.gov integration), to working with bots that monitor website pricing, to my current role working with payment systems for the debt collection industry. I’ve participated in all aspects of the projects from planning and architecture all the way through implementation. I’ve had an eclectic past, that’s for sure. I founded a consulting firm in 2007 that I grew and sold in 2013. Later, I helped found a startup that didn’t do as well, but gave me a wealth of experience in the education sector. I have been a teacher in everything from bootcamp classes, to advanced testing courses. I have been a mentor, both formally inside companies and on my own.
