Leah Callon-Butler

Leah is the director of Emfarsis, a web3 advisory firm with special expertise in strategic communications, that invests in early-stage projects including Yield Guild Games (YGG), My Pet Hooligan by AMGI Studios, Crypto Unicorns by Laguna Games, BreederDAO, AcadArena, Finblox, and more. In crypto since 2017, Leah has collaborated with Games4Change APAC, the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), Blockchain Australia, Women in Blockchain, Women's World Banking, and others, to drive blockchain gaming adoption and impact globally. Leah takes an active role in guiding public discourse around web3, having led content and programming for world-class events including the Metaverse and Gaming Stage at Consensus 2023, Philippine Web3 Festival and the YGG Web3 Games Summit. Via her regular opinion column, Leah authored the first-ever CoinDesk article about Axie Infinity in August 2020 when the game still had less than 500 Daily Active Users. She was also the writer/narrator of the award-winning short film, "Play-to-Earn: NFT Gaming in the Philippines” (May 2021). With a special interest in evolving regulatory landscapes, Leah was an advisor to the inaugural V20 Summit and led communications for the interVASP joint working group, which created the world’s first technical standard to help crypto exchanges adhere to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF)’s travel rule. Additionally, Emfarsis partners annually with the Blockchain Game Alliance (BGA) to produce its annual Member Survey and Report. Leah holds a bachelor of Communications majoring in Writing and Cultural Studies and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA), both from the University of Technology Sydney.

I am a motivated solidity engineer with experience implementing smart contracts from design stage to final audit report. Contracts that I have worked on have held in excess of two billion dollars at points. I have also created and updated smart contracts that are used to move millions of dollars of user’s money in and out of automated market maker type exchanges on a weekly basis. My current tech stack is solidity, hardhat, ethers.js and typescript for smart contract development. I also have experience using Python and Rust.

I am a Web3 Marketing Specialist with over five years of experience in the field and eight in digital marketing. Using my Data Scientist background I have fostered some of the most vibrant web3 communities of this field bringing them growth in terms of liquidity and community. Some of my clients were Sweat Economy, dYdX, Bitfinex, Inter Protocol, and Bware Labs. I leverage data science to optimize marketing campaigns and strategies. I have a background in data science, having studied data analysis and machine learning. I use these skills to collect, analyze, visualize, and interpret data from various sources, such as web analytics, customer feedback, and market research. Some of my biggest accomplishments have been to grow a community by 10 times and to increase the TVL of a DeFi platform from $30k to $300k in 6 months during the 2023 bear market.
