As a serial entrepreneur I have co-founded and managed several international start-ups and joint-ventures (both IT and Financial Services companies). I have a proven track record of entering new international markets and driving the sales of complex solutions, and the ability to quickly form appropriate relationships and partnerships - both internally and externally. My interest in operationalizing and executing new business ideas has resulted in many opportunities to work closely with innovative companies on the launch of new customer-centric services, including digital investment and robo-advisory services for retail clients across South-East Asia.

Charis Liau, CFA

Charis is a business leader with more than 20 years of experience in fintech, banking and finance specialising in fintech, investments, structured finance, relationship and risk management across Asian markets. She co-founded SDAX Financial in 2016 and shaped the strategic trajectory and expansion of the digital investment platform. Under her stewardship, the platform developed a robust distribution network with deep sectorial expertise in deal origination and proprietary credit risk models. In 2021, the Group merged with SDAX Exchange to build a global digital asset exchange ecosystem and counts PSA International (wholly owned by Temasek), The Straits Trading Company Limited and ESR Group Limited amongst its key shareholders. Prior to founding SDAX Financial, she was with Bangsawan Brothers, a regional boutique consultancy and investment group and had also spent 13 years with Standard Chartered Bank. At Standard Chartered Bank, she held various positions spanning relationship management in Singapore and China, global corporate finance, structured finance, asset finance and advisory to financial institutions, large and local corporates across Asia. Charis currently serves on the Alumni Advisory Board of Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University and is a regular speaker at events. In 2021, she was recognised amongst Singapore’s 100 Women in Tech by the Singapore Computer Society and IMDA and in 2024 she was named one of the Top 50 Finance Leaders across Asia in Aspire’s Future of Finance 50 list. She was also awarded the Top 12 Fintech Leader and Top 5 Women in Fintech awards by the Singapore Fintech Association in 2020. She is a founding member of the Marketplace Lending sub-committee of the Singapore Fintech Association. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy with First Class Honours from Nanyang Technological University, a Certificate in Fintech from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as a Certificate in AI for Healthcare from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder from the CFA Institute.

Frans Wiwanto 黄正一

Frans Wiwanto is Flywire's Managing Director for the Asia Pacific region. In his current role, he manages a team of professionals in the region with responsibility for all matters across the business. Frans has more than 20 years of experience covering payments, investment banking, corporate banking, private banking and global markets. He started his career with the Singapore Government where he was attached to the Inland Revenue Authority as a Senior Intelligence Officer and to the Monetary Authority as an Assistant Director in the Securities & Futures Supervision Department. Prior to joining Flywire initially as its Chief Compliance Officer for Asia Pacific, Frans served in a similar role at Moneygram, where he was involved in several digital payments projects and conducted training for agents and regulators in the region. His experience also includes senior positions at other leading global financial institutions such as Mizuho, HSBC and RBS. He has worked in Singapore and Hong Kong. Frans has an Honors degree in Business Administration from the National University of Singapore. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist.
