I consider thinking to be mandatory, language to be music, and humor to be essential to thrive. I appreciate satire and absurdism, and try to spread them around; insufficient irony in one's intellectual diet causes mental anemia. In many ways, I'm a cynic, but a cynic in the "the world sucks, I want it to suck less" style, rather than the sort that's just mean. Lately, I've almost entirely stopped caring about what a person thinks they believe in favor of if they're operating with actual facts or not. I could be called a rational absurdist, which used to be a lot funnier to think about. With the latter part of my tagline becoming more true every day, the former part becomes more of a prerequisite when finding things to laugh about. When I do find something, I try to share it, since I consider being pleasant to work with part of being professional. In that respect, my behavior online is more or less the same as in the workplace - I figure anyone who wouldn't hire me because of what I say here wouldn't hire me in real life, either. My other professional trait besides being an amiable goofball is that just doing the job is never enough. I'm always looking for ways to improve my contribution, the product, the project itself, the systems surrounding the project, or whatever else I can. I do this even if I'm not in a position to implement any of the changes - it's a byproduct of my being analytical. As an extension of this, the project is what's important for me, not my own glory or the rewards. I'm apparently a Myers-Briggs INTP and an Enneagram Five with a Four-Wing, or at least close enough to be a starting point for discussion... insofar as psychometrics are actually accurate. I put that at the end because anyone who's still reading at this point might either know what those are or care enough to look them up. I'm flattered either way - I've gotten an awful lot of offers from people who evidently did not actually read my summary or my work experience...

Born in Exeter in Devon, Wallace Poulter ran for president of the student union at Exeter University when he was 2 years old - it was, unsurprisingly, in all the papers - and it has been all downhill since then. Raised in the North-East, Poulter was one of the pioneering class of graduates of the National Computing Centre's pilot program to accelerate computer programmers into industry. That and an interest in gaming led to LucasArts, Sega, Atari Midway and others as an award winning designer, producer and executive producer before turning to developer relations and business development with Apple and other hi-tech firms. Previously the Director of Strategic Insight at Magic Leap, Poulter's role was, and still is as a consultant in the Immersive space, to understand and explore the entire eco-system.
