Omar is a strategic advisor, investor, and business development executive focused on the Web 3.0 (Crypto) space. Omar has broad functional experience across strategy & operations, technology management, and corporate finance gained through a variety of roles with tier 1 organizations such as Oliver Wyman, Deloitte Consulting, Morgan Stanley, and Barclays Capital. Omar is also intimately involved within the early-stage tech/crypto start-up space, where he selectively invests and works with founding teams on topics such as strategy, fundraising, and growth. He is the Director for the INSEAD Alumni Association's Entrepreneurship, Innovation, & Technology group within the UAE, and has been an advisor with North America’s top university-based tech accelerator since early 2013. Omar is a global citizen and connector that has built a wide network across North America, EMEA, and SEA through his work in 10 countries including key business hubs such as Toronto, London, New York, Singapore, Johannesburg, and Dubai. As an Ex-VP of Citibank's Commercial Digital Banking and Parity Technologies, Joshua is passionate about an inclusive future for financial services and the free internet. (Fintechs / Web3 Tech) His role with Mantle is to lead product for protocol research & development. Mantle is a leading Web3 brand with three main strengths. Firstly, we offer one of the largest liquid staking and restaking derivative products on Ethereum. Secondly, our layer 2 EVM rollup network leverages Ethereum's security to provide efficient and secure transactions. This makes smart contract transactions much cheaper with the economic security of Ethereum. Lastly, we manage one of the largest treasury DAOs, with over $3 billion in assets (Originally contributed by Peter Thiel, Founders Fund, Pantera Capital, Dragonfly Capital, Spartan Group, Jump Capital, ByBit and many more). Passionate as a computer scientist (i.e. a nerd) and macroeconomist, he is keen to develop machine learning frameworks and blockchain development toolsets. His recent exploration is in fully homorphic encryption (FHE), Zero Knowledge (ZK), alternative ISAs (RISC-V), more performant EVMs, foundational models (LLMs) and monetary economics (study in global liquidity dynamics). In his free time, he hacks out prototypes in Web3 hackathons. He won 4 times at these competitions - even just recently in 2024. He graduated from Judge Business School, University of Cambridge where he studied how private & public sector firms collaborate and commercialise emerging technologies. He is both a Commonwealth Scholar for Innovation, and an Industry Scholar supported by Singapore's Central Bank, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
