I started out in the oil fields following my Dad's footsteps. The industry is very boom or bust and wasn't going to support my family in a steady manner. I resorted back to what I know and went to work on hydraulic systems and electrical for a few years. After finding myself in a rut, I decided to make a change and went to driving a tow truck, drove for companies and owned my own. Loved it for a little over a decade, but the challenge wasn't there. So I started at AT&T and found the challenge I was after. I spent five years enjoying the daily challenge even while traveling. It's truly amazing how a bad manager can cause so many good employees to leave and find a better place. After dealing with the large corporations and not having a good experience, I wanted to go back to a smaller place. This lead me to joining QPIM as a foreman in an industry I knew very little about. For 10 very fast years I loved what I did and who I did it for, and that's a hard thing to achieve. mid 2020, with pandemic affecting the small company, we were bought out by Osmose Utilities. I have found new challenges to keep me busy for more than a couple years now, however, those feelings of being just a number at a large corporation are starting to set in again. I travel 100% for my job while maintaining a crew minimum of 4 and swells to 9 depending on the contract. I'm not saying this is the end, but I'm just going to keep my eyes open and see where this leads me. Onward and Upward Adding a new chapter this week, I took a leap of faith and changed employers. The toxic management and tactics will never keep quality people. I not perfect nor do I claim to be, but when you choose to be self serving and blame your failures on others around you, it won't take long and good people start leaving. I started this past week at Constellation. I'm excited to be on this journey to find a work place to grow while helping others to grow. I have been too loyal to people and companies that were never loyal to me. I will still be traveling for work, more in the beginning, but that will slow in a bit. I have been excited to wake up every morning and not have that truck load of stress wash over me. The management that I have meet and dealt with so far are quality people and have made certain to live up to every promise/statement they have made, especially about there being no stress here. and as always.... Onward and Upward.
