By night I sometimes work on open source projects across the board, especially ones that help out the neurotechx and hashbang communities I'm a part of.

Yasmeen Hmaidan

Yasmeen is a technology sales/business development consultant and professional racing sailor. She has consulted for companies like OpenBCI, NeurotechX Consultancy Services, etc. and with 4+ years of research experience, she has also prototyped brain-computer interface (BCI) wearables at MIT Media Lab with robotics, wearables and industrial design. Yasmeen's passion for technology also expands to art, where she recorded EEG brain waves from 200+ people across New York, Boston, and Toronto, to create the world’s first brain-controlled art piece to be featured on a Times Square billboard. Outside of tech, she is a licensed skipper who enjoys sailing competitively in international races ranging from the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas to the Great Lakes. Dexter Tortoriello

Dexter Tortoriello is a multidisciplinary leader whose pioneering work spans music, technology, and innovation. From 2010 - 2020, his work as both Houses and Dawn Golden garnered international success, scoring a Top 10 single with his song “Fast Talk,” building a worldwide audience, and performing at festivals such as Coachella, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, and others. As a producer, his credits include collaborations with Lil Yachty, Diplo, Kali Uchis, Odesza, and more. During long stretches of downtime on the road, Dexter completed a HarvardX micromasters in Computer Science. As the pandemic grounded the music world, Tortoriello co-founded Friends With Benefits (FWB), recognized as the first social DAO. His contributions as CTO helped establish a new blueprint for online communities, culminating in a landmark $10 million funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz. His work included developing a suite of essential tooling for the DAO, leading architecture of a decentralized governance system, and spearheading innovation across the DAOs entire product portfolio. In 2023, he sought new frontiers with his personal AI startup MindPalace, where he created a groundbreaking personal agent system focused on augmenting and extending human memory by leveraging the vast stores of personal data previously locked within the apps and services we use every day. Tortoriello is most comfortable at the edge of what’s possible, where the line between technology and creativity disappears. His work is driven by a constant pursuit of what’s next, and a deep belief that the future isn’t there to be pondered, it’s there to be built.
