Dr. Jason Koh is an internationally known orthopedic surgeon with significant clinical, research, administrative and entrepreneurial experience. A magna cum laude graduate of Harvard, he received his MD from Johns Hopkins, followed by internship at the Massachusetts General Hospital, residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery, and fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He received his MBA from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management, with additional coursework at Harvard Business School.
As chair of the largest orthopaedic department in the Chicago area he has led the use of data analytics to achieve nationally recognized quality while reducing cost and significantly increasing surgical volume. He the founding director of the Orthopaedic & Spine Institute specialty hospital at NorthShore, and established multidisciplinary programs in arthritis, sports medicine, and spine care.
He specializes in minimally invasive techniques to treat sports and shoulder injuries and has been team physician for the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Fire Soccer, and the Joffrey Ballet. His peers have voted him "Top Doctor" and elected him to the ACL Study Group, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), the International Patellofemoral Study Group, and the Herodicus Society. His NIH funded research involves tissue engineering and regenerative medicine for cartilage, rotator cuff and ligament repair, and twice won the Charles Neer award from the ASES, and the Richard O'Connor award from the Arthroscopy Association. He is internationally recognized as a teacher and course chair, and has published >100 papers, multiple book chapters, and 3 books.
He works with medical device and technology companies from bench top to successful clinical trials and commercialization, and has experience with US and European regulatory requirements.
He has leadership positions with multiple professional groups, has served as President of the Illinois Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and is a board member of several organizations.
