As a seasoned mobile engineer with 10+ years of developer experience, I deliver high‑impact apps that delight users and move business metrics. I code natively (Kotlin/Swift), cross‑platform (Flutter & React Native), and AI‑assisted (Cursor, CodeRabbit, GitHub Copilot)—choosing the right toolchain to ship faster and better.
What I’m doing now
Muru — Lead Mobile & Product Engineer
Full‑Flutter rewrite: Re‑architected both legacy native apps (Android & iOS) into a single Flutter codebase—cutting duplicate effort, speeding feature velocity, and simplifying QA.
Product ownership: Partner with founders on roadmap planning, run backlog grooming, spec new features, and coordinate user interviews/testing—acting as a hybrid Product Manager × Tech Lead.
AI‑accelerated workflow: Leverage Cursor & CodeRabbit for unit‑test scaffolding, code‑review automation, and refactor suggestions, freeing time for architecture and UX polish.
Selected past highlights
Atom Finance: Ported mission‑critical React Native modules to native Android and contributed to iOS/web, ensuring a consistent cross‑platform experience.
Nickelodeon: Drove Kotlin adoption; migrated large test suites from Java, ran internal workshops, and boosted developer productivity.
Built a natural‑language medical search engine and automated functional test suites in Java.
How I work
Quality & robustness first: TDD, CI/CD, and clean architecture to minimize regressions and enable rapid iteration.
AI + human creativity: I pair AI copilots with deep domain knowledge to ship smarter, faster, and with fewer bugs.
Business mindset: Measure success by engagement, revenue lift, and operational efficiency—whether through code or product strategy.
Knowledge‑sharer: Writing blog posts, mentor juniors, and document best practices so the whole team levels up.
A few years ago, I changed my username on the internet to JamesDavisMakes. Ever since I was a little kid, making stuff was a passion of mine. I make games, I make screenplays, I make films and content, occasionally I make a fool of myself haha. If you're looking to hire me, I'd make your life easier.
In my most recent role, I was an Associate Producer at Activision Blizzard. I managed a team of artists, engineers, and department associate producers to create the in-game cinematics for the AAA video game Diablo IV (as well as helped the Overwatch short animations). Before that, I was a Production Coordinator at Naughty Dog for the game The Last of Us Part I. Sadly, I was a part of the mass layoffs due to Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard and I am actively looking for my next home.
Back in 2021, I changed careers from software engineering (I made apps for a living, cool right?) to production. Over the past 4 years, I launched the first Black Heritage Month initiative at Rooster Teeth (a Warner Bros. Discovery company) which was hosted by me and The Daily Show's Roy Wood, Jr. This initiative increased the network's live and video-on-demand viewership by 30% and raised $12,000+ for charity. This was a stepping stone into my career where, aside from the aforementioned games, I worked on shows and movies by Disney, Netflix, Lionsgate, and HBO. I've also coordinated game trailers for Epic games.

I am often told that I approach problems differently and sometimes more efficiently than other producers, which I attribute to my tech background. Software engineers solve hundreds of problems a day, which gives me the ability to quickly identify if something smells and communicate that to the appropriate department, assess the risks, and come up with viable solutions and mitigations. I'm also an effective communicator; I'll run meetings, foster cross-functional collaboration, and willing to have the tough conversations when things slip.
Outside of work, you guessed it, I'm still making stuff. I'm slowly building my YouTube channel, planning a podcast, and ideating short films. Aside from that, I'm constantly learning new things. For instance, I learned how to create dice (for like Dungeons and Dragons) cast out of resin! It's very involved but very cool.
With all that said, let's connect! I'm looking to build my community of like-minded makers. Feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn. I look forward to connecting with you!
