Seasoned leader and cabinet member to Utah Governor Spencer Cox with a strong track record of pushing forward significant public policy initiatives focused on regulatory reform, social media regulation and litigation, and artificial intelligence. In addition, Margaret is responsible for leading the Utah Department of Commerce through significant operational change including conscientiously creating culture and engagement amongst the shift to hybrid work, implementing a pay for performance program, and standing up a significant public outreach effort to educate the public in how to protect themselves from scams and fraud. Known for her exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, Margaret excels at motivating teams to solve problems creatively and move goals forward by empowering individuals and uniting them with a compelling purpose. Her experience also includes working for Harvard Business School’s Social Enterprise Initiative, The Bridgespan Group, the U.S. Treasury Department, and municipal government. Margaret is passionate about achieving positive social impact through visionary leadership, rigorous analysis, clear strategy, and proactive processes. Margaret is the recipient of Utah Business’s 2024 Most Influential Women award, Women Tech Council’s 2024 Women in Tech Award finalist, and the Utah Bar Association’s 2024 Cyber Pioneer Award. Margaret has been a featured speaker/panelist on a diverse range of topics, including regulatory reform, artificial intelligence policy, social media regulation for minors, social enterprise, political polarization, and women in leadership across the state of Utah, Harvard Business School, Tufts University, and Brigham Young University.
